Hey, hey, hey. You are now tuned into the it's a Human Experience podcast. Listen, we got Portia back on the podcast and we are going to be getting into some things, if you haven't already tuned in to the previous episode, where Portia and I talk about self-worth, self-actualization, owning your magic, owning your light, but also talking through some of the darkness, some of the experiences that we go through as people trying to navigate self-actualization and becoming our highest self. If you haven't heard it, go ahead and tune into it. They don't necessarily stack on one another, so you could tune into this first, but I wanted to make sure you know there's more awesome sauce in terms of conversations between Portia and I, so make sure you don't miss out on it. Yes, portia, welcome back. I almost want to sing welcome back, welcome back welcome back.

Speaker 3:

Welcome back, we give thanks. Thanks for having me back. A blast to get to talk about this subject.

Speaker 2:

I'm like oh, let's go oh, y'all, we are talking about all the personality stuff, right? We all, of course. Everybody knows about horoscopes and signs, and you know I'm a leo and portions of libra and you know the leos and libras definitely love just the, the realness that comes from each other. And then also the fun, like being able to use every portion of who you are, like the professional you, the fun, you, the goofy, you, the I ain't got time for you like all the yous right, they can show up. But I feel like nowadays there's so many other things that people think about when it comes to personality. Like I've taken a disc assessment before found out that I was a DI, capital D, small. I I've done like Enneagram, found out that I was an Enneagram 3. Then I also recently did the human design test and found out that I was a manifesting generator. And I'm like, listen, like I don't know how good to feel or bad to feel about all these things. But I will tell you that once I did the human design thing and found out I was a manifesting generator, I checked everybody at my house, right? So my twins are manifesting generators Also. My daughter, my oldest daughter, is a projector and my husband is a manifesting generator also, and then I was like I don't even trust human design no more, because there ain't no way. He is not a manifesting generator. They got it all wrong. I am over it.

Speaker 2:

I did listen to you, though, and try to see if his empty areas were my full areas and he was more full in my empty areas, which was great, but in two of my empty areas, but I still, I don't know. I love him and all, but he's a man-person generator. Let's talk about the things, portia. I know I ain't got no sense and I'm going to keep it real.

Speaker 3:

Oh, I'm here for all of it, though. Just hold space for your sweet projector daughter in a house full of it.

Speaker 2:

But you know what makes so much sense, portia, when I look that up, she always feels like she does not fit in here. So when I saw that we were all manifesting generators and she was a projector, to your point, I felt like my poor baby, it's bigger than signs. Because when I thought about signs alone, my twins are water signs. They're cancers. My husband's a cancer, also in a water sign, and my daughter is a Scorpio, so she's a water sign as well, and then I'm a fire sign. So I felt like I was the one that was out here trying to be put aside. My flame was trying to get unflamed and I was not here for it. So when I did human design, I was like, oh, it's not about you, was not here for it. So when I did human design, I was like oh, it's not about you. Honey, your poor baby. Like how is she dealing with all y'all mess, all these?

Speaker 3:

years what human design was one of the ones that changed the game for me. I'm a big fan of the self-discovery modalities because if we kind of speaking to the last podcast that we did around, kind of you know what, what was my spiritual journey? And finding myself, people like who are you? I had no idea, so I had to kind of you know what, what was my spiritual journey? And finding myself. People are like who are you? I had no idea, so I had to kind of I was like, all right, well, here's some places I could start and I did them. All you know, all of the ones I have my, I have one that I call the sacred. Seven of my seven favorite of them, I think make a really good piece.

Speaker 3:

But human design shifted the game for me in finding out and there are like a couple of aspects of human design that give you a little bit more, you know, bang for the buck than others. But like a house full of manifesting generators and one you know, projector you know there is like it's a. The human design was actually created for parents to parent their children, so that you could find the genius early enough and cultivate that unique genius inside of that person, rather than trying to make them like you or make them like society, like allow them to really be who they are. So it makes my heart warm to know that now you know that about your kids and it's also funny because you know, now you also see it's. The parallels are so funny. You see how you can be a manifesting generator and your husband can literally be a manifesting generator and you'll be able to pull opposites because also it depends on you know how you work your strategies and authorities, because that's the other kind of piece that help you to get the your brain wrapped around why you could be exactly the same as another person but they don't really think the same way.

Speaker 3:

I love, uh, stacking the profile tests so that you can get a more clear and defined reading right, because there may be millions of people who are a leo right, but how many of them are a leo that are also a manifesting generator that are the closer you get it down, the more direct you get in the reading. When you're ready to go, like, a little bit further than, like you know, the cosmopolitan horoscope, you really can look and start to see a roadmap, and what I love so much about them is it's like your superpowers that you don't even know you have can be there, the things that everybody else can see but you couldn't see it if you couldn't see. With 10 football, usually you can find those there. Your stuck points, like the places where you always seem to get stuck, and the ways in which to get yourself out of it, have been what I really really loved about that, and particularly human design is one that has a lot of that baked in. I love that you're excited about that.

Speaker 2:

I am excited, like I'm glad you clarified, because with him I'm like there is no way we are the same, like there's just I'm. It made me a a, a, not a believer. Really is what it made me, because I was like there's no way. I'm the kind of person where I'll go ahead first. He's the kind of person where he has to watch, he has to create a plan, he has to make sure he sees somebody else go ahead first. And did they drown? I ain't got time for that. I'm about to figure it out. Let's go when he's like no, you go figure it out, you come back and tell me if it's real and I'll jump with you. Then, if you make it back up when I'm like, no, I'm just going to do it. My gut told me to do it. This makes sense for me. I'm not going to wait for other people to go ahead and do it.

Speaker 2:

So it was just like we are completely opposite in terms of how we approach life. What centers us and what may be true in terms of like the manifesting generator, like similarities, is that we're very real people, like we are not trying to compete with anybody else. We are trying to be the best versions of ourselves for us, like, his heart is pure. He truly cares about other people. He really roots for other people as well, but he tells you as it is. I am like that as well. So there are so many similarities within us, but I feel like how we approach life is different, and sometimes I do look at him and I'm like maybe I should start weighting too, and I'm like, nah, it's not me, I'm not going to do it.

Speaker 3:

I'll be interested to see looking at your charts also to see you sound like you are a sacral authority. He sounds like he's probably an emotional authority, so it is in his nature. It's important for him to wait until the emotions. Depending on which kind of emotional authority he is, those tend to be people who have a little bit more um uh process to how they process, if that makes sense, whereas folks like you and I, who are sacral authority, it's like my gut said yes, I'm going.

Speaker 2:

Yeah and you're right. Um, I am sacral authority and he is emotional authority, so it does make sense, in terms of like, why we process the way that we do things differently, yet we still have similarities. So yeah, like when? What are you in terms of like your human design?

Speaker 3:

I am a two, five sacral generator, straight up generator and those are the probably the most important parts to note across kind of the boards. The profile numbers also is where things get interesting. They call me that the two is like the natural or they call it the hermit and the five is like the heretic. So I am half hermit, half heretic, which totally also speaks to me being a Libra sun right, and what they call a Libra stellium, meaning I have like four planets in Libra, so a lot of Libra in my chart and it's two sides, right the scales. So of course I'm the hermit and the heretic in human design. So also, again, when you start to learn them, a lot of them are based on similar ancient technologies so they overlap and Lego stack really well with each other.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I love that we touched on this, because I feel like when we talk about self-worth and we talk about really figuring out who we are in terms of self-reflection, like human design, your sign Enneagram test, this, all the things it gives you clues about who you are right.

Speaker 2:

Especially when you take the test authentically, like you're not trying to go with what you think people want you to do, it really helps you land in terms of, oh, like, I am just wired like this, this is why I do things this way.

Speaker 2:

And then there are so many support tools in how you're able to navigate certain problems and situations based on, like, how you're rooted deeply, right, and so I wanted to make sure we touch on that, because, even in talking to you from a sign perspective, I'm still an infant when it comes to these things, in the sense that I'm like I'm a Leo, like I don't know my son, I don't know my rising, I don't know my anything.

Speaker 2:

All I know is I'm a Leo and I'm a real Leo. I'm an August Leo. Listen, I'm a Leo, leo, and it's like okay, I would love to learn a little bit more about this other stuff, but I think it's so important, like we understand that, yes, nurture comes into play. Your environment's going to dictate and differentiate, like how you show up in those truths around your sign, your personality test and all the things but wanted to provide that sense of awareness around the fact that there are tools out there to help you navigate self-reflection, to help you figure out who you are and to better understand in the way that you show up and own that magic Right Own your truths and understanding that there are people also out there just like you in terms of how they show up.

Speaker 3:

Oh, I love that. And if I had to give it like a little tip and trick, if you're someone who's listening to this and you want to get into this work, there are two types of profiling tests. Really, most of them can be kind of put into two different categories. Some are a bit of a hybrid, but I don't run into those as many tests, right, your human design, your numerology, your astrology and a variety of other ones that are in that lane, which is, you know, this is based on you know time, date of birth, kind of what your internal state would be like if you didn't interact with anybody else on the planet. Right, it's the conscious identity questioning. Then you've got your like Enneagram, your wealth dynamics, your strength finders, right, you've got, maybe even, depending on how you work with your phase cycle work. Those tend to be. You get to choose the answers to the question, so you get a real insight into how you're conditioned. You also get a real insight into how you think about you at the current moment in time. So those it tends to make sense to do every couple of years because your perspective may have changed, whereas the others tend to kind of be like a base.

Speaker 3:

I'm a big believer that it works really great when you have a mix of both. If you're kind of listening from this podcast and you're looking for a place to start, find one you know what I mean either astrology, human design, gene keys, numerology, you know, know that speaks to you on that end, and then find one on the other end, whether it's strength finders or enneagram or what dynamics that allows you to be able to kind of do both when you put them over each other. That is where you get again a very nice comprehensive view of how you're wired and how you think about yourself as an access point to the beginning to build a relationship with you, your worth and your genius on the planet. It really like the juice here really is figuring out how unique you really are, how delicious that really is and what amazing things can only you have access to based on that deliciousness. That's really the codes here.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I love that. I swear. As I'm listening to you talk, I'm like read me now. Not call me now, but read me now.

Speaker 3:

And what's hilarious is I have I've been working with these things for years because I love them, like at least the seven that I commit to, which are human design, astrology, numerology, I do, the phase cycle works, a hormonal phase cycle, your personal lived experience, gene keys, and I think I miss astrology. Those tend to be like my seven that I know really well, but I am not a reader by any means. I've just seen like I run all of my clients charts, all of them. So I'm just seeing so many that I'm like, oh, you show up like the other 15 people.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, no for sure. And I feel like it's read me from the perspective of us trying to figure out who we are. So, like, when you read these different things, you're like okay, like yeah, that's true, and like anything else, when it shows your negatives, you're going to be like no, that's not true, not me, like, if you're anything like me and I'm like girl, how can everything else be true? But that be wrong, they wrong, they are wrong. So be open and fluid in terms of what you're reading and understand that everything's not rigid.

Speaker 2:

And I think it's important to point back out what Portia said about the fact that when you think about, like your Enneagram and personality tests, those things can change over time because a lot of those things are growth, mindset related. It's not a fixed thing. So if you put yourself through therapy, if you've done the work, then you can sometimes change the way that you were programmed into thinking and the way that you perceive things, and so it's important to kind of catch that baseline in terms of where you are today and then make the necessary changes to be able to change the target or change the way that you're wired if you would like to make those changes. So I love that you touched on that because, truly, I've heard people say like I did this this time and I redid it and I'm no longer like that. And I'm like, girl, I did mine and I'm the same and I've been in therapy, so I'm like, okay, maybe it's just me.

Speaker 3:

It's so real and I also I feel like another tip I would say to give people with this is also know, go, look at the website and see the goal of the test Like.

Speaker 1:

I am not an.

Speaker 3:

Enneagram girly not to say that I will not be, but I have. It's not. The goals of that don't make the most sense for how I look at life. So same thing with kind of like strength finders. I liked wealth dynamics versus strength finders because I thought that the access point of the wealth dynamics made more sense to me than the access point of strength finders. If you're looking for your strengths, go take a strength finder. So I think it's like when you do the test, look for the thing that you're actually looking for, the root of finding out about yourself. And I love what you said go through with a curious mind. Negatives will come up, positives will come up. All of it is just data. You still get to choose what you want to do with the information. It's not a set of instructions, it's insight.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and I think that I want to circle back on what you said too. I guess we just dropped the gems, right, because I think something that stood out for me is the fact that when you're going through this data, understanding that the information that you're getting needs to resonate with you, because if it doesn't resonate with you, you're not going to put in the work to really understand it. Right, if I'm going to go through numerology and I don't believe in numbers, I don't think that there's no significance in terms of whatever popping up on my phone and things that kind of show up for me and things that keep repeating themselves in a certain cycle, then I'm not going to learn about numerology, I'm not going to do anything with it. And then I'm going to make bold comments like I don't believe in X, y, z, but you haven't put it in the work. And I feel like when we think about, like these personality tests and anything in life, if we don't work it, it does not work. So make sure it resonates with you.

Speaker 2:

Listen, listen. I'm here and I'm like I would love to know more about my moon sign, rising sun and all the things, but I realize it just doesn't snap and go into your head, but I'm happy that you were able to. I'm happy you were able to kind of provide clarity in terms of kind of what's out there, what's available, and listen, go ahead and find out your charts, find out your information, land with what resonates to you, and do the work in terms of figuring out who you are, cause I already know whose you are, so I in terms of figuring out who you are, because I already know whose you are, so I want you to figure out who you are. Of course, the listening was good, a good, good, good conversation. Thanks for dropping some gems and just really helping us understand more about all these different personality tests.

Speaker 3:

Thanks for having me. And last thing I will say is we do a lot of this for ourselves. Personally, it becomes a whole nother game when you look at it for your business, because how you market, how you brand, how you attract community, how you actually show up and serve, the way that you articulate your value versus the way that it's seen. A lot of that I have found in my astrology, in my human side and my junkies. So just saying, there's an extra layer if you're of the entrepreneurial set and you're hearing this, oh, there's layers to it.

Speaker 2:

Oh, my God, there's layers, levels and all the things. Listen, just when I thought I was touching the surface, here we go another level, but I'm here for it. I'm going to embrace myself on this journey because I think that's what life is all about Really figuring out who you are, getting to new heights, looking down and just being proud of yourself. Be like girl, look at you, look at how far you've come, and you are nowhere close to the greatness that you're going to be able to accomplish and do with the gifts that you have in this world.
