Speaker 2:Hey, hey, hey. You are now tuned in to the it's the Human Experience podcast. I'm your host, hazel Brown. Today, I just wanted to take some time to dive into life and the waves, the ups and downs, the highs and lows, the duality of things. Because as we move into our next chapters the new week, the new days, the new years with time just flying by, years with time just flying by and social media we talked a little bit about it a few episodes ago being a thing where we see everyone's with their highs and sometimes you may be experiencing your lows.
Speaker 2:I think it's important we really dive into the duality of things and make sure that, whether you're going through an up moment, a down moment or kind of a content moment, you're able to recognize that whatever is in front of you is in front of you, to get you to what's in front of you. And I want to make sure we sat in that, because you're a beautiful soul, you're working on betting on yourself, healing, growing into the best version of yourself, and I just want to keep it real, I want to keep it raw, I want to lead with love and make sure that you understand that as we peel back the layers of our human journey. You're not alone on that journey, and so, as we kind of dive into this topic, I just want to make sure we celebrate the highs and the lows of life. If it's your first time tuning into the podcast, go ahead and scroll up to the top and hit that follow button. If you're tuning in from Apple, iheart Radio, spotify, google all the things Audible and you're able to leave a review, please make sure you scroll on down and leave a review. Rate us five stars, of course, but outside of that, I just want to make sure we dive into the episodes.
Speaker 2:I really don't spend a lot of time with the fluff and all the things. I just want to make sure that you're getting value and you're growing into the highest version of yourself. Here's the truth. We all have mountains, valleys, sunny skies, stormy days, all the things. But if I told you that every peak and every tough spot wasn't essential to you being the masterpiece that you are today and will continue to evolve into, then I wouldn't be telling you the truth. So I want you to walk away with actionable steps to embrace and thrive, no matter where you are in life, no matter where you are on the journey. So go ahead and grab your tea, your coffee, your favorite drink, and let's just dive into life. Right, let's dive in and unfold all of the things I want to talk about perspective.
Speaker 2:Sometimes we watch like waves like we're talking about the beach here waves on the shore, and some are calm and gentle, some are wild, overpowering. Some you got to move back a little bit. Right, you were sitting there and it seemed like you were in a safe spot, but before you know, it kind of comes out and gets you and in those instances, because of the calm that the beach sometimes provide, maybe you just kind of move back. But I feel like life really resembles that ebb and flow right To where sometimes things are calm, sometimes things are wild, sometimes life just really lives.
Speaker 2:And regardless of if you're at the peak or you're celebrating, I just don't want you to be thinking to yourself that something is wrong with you when you're in the valley. Don't camp out there, don't self-isolate, don't put yourself in a position to where you feel like, oh my God, I'm alone, this is happening to me. Understand that there's something that you can learn from that experience, something that's going to help build your character and understand that sometimes the waves are meant to be written. You can ride that wave and within that, you're going to rise again. What you believe really creates your reality. So if you choose to believe that your challenges are happening right now and it's something that's going to keep you stuck, keep you there, then that is a choice. If you choose to believe that that challenge is something that's here to help shape you, to help groom you, to help get you ready for your next level, then you can believe that. Something that I really want you to take away is making sure you journal your highs and lows. Write down the things that you're grateful for when you're up. Write down the things that you're grateful for when you're up. Write down the things that you're grateful for when you're down. It's really important that we recognize that even on hard days this too shall pass you are growing. Even in your hardest days, you are growing. You're building resilience, you're building character. You're building strength. In hindsight, you'll be able to look back and realize what you're capable of going through. In foresight, you're thinking I don't know if I could ever go through that, but in hindsight you know that you've been through other things and you will get through whatever it is that life throws at you.
Speaker 2:It's often the small action, the small steps we take while we're in a period of feeling low that really helps us to feel less stuck. But growth doesn't always come from these big steps, these big things that we do to get to the next level. It's often the small things we do, like making sure that we go get in our exercise, we drink our water, we take time for rest, we journal, we pray, we go to therapy, we spend time with people we love, we take time to honor ourselves. Right, you call a friend, you create some kind of momentum, you get out your bed, you do the things that you need to do to light yourself on fire. I really want to make sure you sit in that, because it's really easy to feel like power is within the big things. But I want you to remember power is within the small actions that we take and the way in which we take the first step that will unfold us to the next step and to the next step and to the next step, to where we can become the version of ourselves that we so desperately want to be, because we're always evolving, we're always learning and the moment we decide to sit in the dark. That's when we get stuck and I don't want you to get stuck.
Speaker 2:Speaking of getting stuck, I think that as we think about our journal it wouldn't be good if I didn't actually speak on this Many times as we're journaling, we're kind of journaling the highs and lows, things that we're grateful for, things that we want out of life. But I think it's also important to journal your mindset shifts, like what are the actions that you took that made you feel better? Sometimes we miss that. We just write down what we're going through and what we want. But in that dark place, once you start to come out of it, do go back and write what you did that actually helped to shift your mind, that actually got you out of that dark place. Because even when we're living on purpose, chaos still happens. And the next time you're in that dark space maybe a different situation, different people, different everything but things still happen Life will still life. I want you to have a reference point to go back to to say hey, last time I went through X, y, z, this is what I did.
Speaker 2:Leave the breadcrumbs for yourself, leave the gems for the future. You, you think that you've evolved and come out of something, but many times we circle back, especially if we didn't really learn it the way we should have learned it, and second from that you could have a different experience. But the same formula still applies the same things that light you up and give you the courage to keep going. You'll need those same nuggets to keep going because oftentimes maybe that place, that thing that brought you in that low, low pace, may happen two years from now. You may not always remember what you did two years ago, and that is a reason you need to leave those breadcrumbs and those nuggets for yourself. So write it down so that as you look back you not only recognize how far you came, so you can give yourself credit, but when you're in that space where you need some kind of courage, you need that motivation, that inspiration. You can get it from your younger self.
Speaker 2:Make sure you remember that living on purpose doesn't mean having it all figured out. It doesn't mean having all the answers. It means being intentional with what you have today. When life gets overwhelming, just ask yourself what's one thing I could do today that aligns with who I am and who I want to become? I've shared many different valleys and things throughout the podcast episodes. But I want you to take a moment to figure out for yourself am I deciding to sit in this situation or am I going to choose to take purposeful action to get me one step ahead? It's so important that we revisit our goals. Simply sit in gratitude for the smallest things that happen for us, the small blessings, the small wins, just starting your morning with one question what can I do to honor my purpose today? That is a small question to ask yourself, but it really helps to align you to what's really important for that day, for that week, for that month, for that quarter, for that year. It's important to make sure that you're just not like willy-nilly out here, going through life, just doing whatever. It's really important for you to align yourself to the things that serve purpose and provides meaning in your life, because in the end, that will lead to fulfillment.
Speaker 2:Listen, we've talked a little bit about the highs, the lows, all of the turbulent points in life, but I just want to make sure we talk about some practical tools that can really help fill your toolkit. And I often talk about creating community and I don't just share that because I have a community Workplace Therapy Experience. Shameless plug. Look us up on Instagram at Workplace Therapy Experience. You'll see some of the events that we do events in Vegas as well as in Atlanta, so definitely make sure you check that out.
Speaker 2:I'm sharing that because community is so important, whether it's you going out and networking and finding people that are like you so that you don't feel alone, or you make sure you spend time with your besties and friends, that you've already created family that really wants to love on you, coworkers that adore you. Find your people. There are so many ways to find your people Get out your way, get out your mind and just meet people. I think the human connection is so important, and being able to put yourself in positions where you're amongst people, that you can share your highs and lows, create space for healing and connection. That, within itself, is like a free gift that we have. People are everywhere. It's just finding your people Outside of the community. You know I'm going to tell you. You know I'm going to tell you Go to therapy, get you some therapy. Therapy is so important. Coaching is very important. Creating that safe space to unpack your thoughts is truly life changing and yes, I've been there too. It's a game changer. That's why I recommend it.
Speaker 2:Listen, you are not your circumstances, you are not your highs and lows. You are resilient, you are capable, you're a human being that can navigate this wild ride that we call life. I just need you to take a deep breath. Listen, take it right now. Pause, take a deep breath in, inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale. Life may not always make sense, but I promise you every step, every stumble if that's what you want to call it is shaping you into the person that you're meant to become. I just want you to honor your truth. Allow life to have life, accept the highs, accept the lows and keep showing up for yourself. It's okay to feel all of the feels the highs, the lows and everything in between, but just know you got this. I'm here, I'm cheering for you, I am rooting for you. I am rooting for you loudly. I want you to win. Keep growing, keep glowing, keep living authentically, boldly, beautifully, and I'll catch you on the next episode.
